The 10-Day Nyerere Safari & Zanzibar Beach Holiday is available: Experience two very different sides of Tanzania on this carefully designed 10-day safari and beach holiday, combining the wildlife-rich wilderness of Nyerere National Park with the tropical beaches, history, and Swahili culture of Zanzibar. It is an excellent choice for couples, families, honeymooners, and first-time visitors seeking a comfortable balance of adventure and relaxation.
Your journey begins in Zanzibar, with time to explore historic Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its Swahili architecture, narrow streets, spice markets, and centuries of Indian Ocean trading history. From Zanzibar, a convenient domestic flight takes you to southern Tanzania and the wild landscapes of Nyerere.
Formerly known as the Selous Game Reserve, Nyerere National Park is one of Africa’s largest protected areas and offers a more secluded safari experience than Tanzania’s northern circuit. The park is especially renowned for its Rufiji River, waterways, diverse birdlife, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, buffalo, lions, and the rare African wild dog. Depending on seasonal conditions and wildlife movements, your safari may include morning and afternoon game drives, a scenic boat safari, and an optional guided walking experience.
After two nights in the bush, you return to Zanzibar for six nights by the Indian Ocean. Spend your days swimming, relaxing on white-sand beaches, snorkeling among coral reefs, or exploring more of the island. Optional experiences can include a spice farm visit, a Stone Town tour, a dhow cruise, marine excursions, or dolphin encounters, depending on conditions and your interests.
This Nyerere and Zanzibar itinerary is designed to make the most of your time in Tanzania without rushing between destinations. With wildlife, river landscapes, Swahili culture, and tropical beaches combined, it offers a well-rounded Tanzania safari and Zanzibar holiday in one seamless journey.
