When is the Great Wildebeest Migration take place in the Serengeti?

Although many people believed that wildebeest Migration commonly starts from Tanzania to end in Masai Mara, it was the misconceptions, migration can be witnessed in the Serengeti throughout the year. But if you are looking for real actions you have to be there at right time in the right place. Wildebeest migration starts from Ndutu Plains in southern Serengeti in April where the heard move toward the Western corridor in Serengeti via the Kirawira River, It will reach western Serengeti in May and stay there until Early July, By early July the migration will start to move toward Central Serengeti and form two wings, one wing will head northwest via Barafu plains to Kogatende then cross the Mara river and another wing will move towards eastern Serengeti via Lobo Area to Bologonja and they will all reach Mara river by early August. August is the best time to witness the Crossing in the Mara river while they will be crossing up and down the river. By end of September, the migration will turn back to Serengeti from Masai Mara, note that only a few percentages will reach Masai Mara Game Reserve but most of them will be between Bologonja and Kogatende.

Nevertheless, the migration doesn’t stop, by November they will proceed toward Seronera, and others will go to Gol Kopjes and reach the Ndutu Plains by end of December before Calving Season. The calving season will take place in Ndutu and Salei plains from January to February. In March for security reason and food, they will move to the woodland of Ndutu where there is less predator. By early April the wildebeests’ migration will start a slowly move via Kusini Camp and Soroi Camp to the Western corridor
