Victoria Falls
Tour Overview
  • Flight from Tanzania.
  • Visiting the falls
  • Walk with lion
  • Elephant ride

Victoria Falls is one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world - hence its almost universal appeal to travellers. The mighty Zambezi flows broad and placid to the brink of a 1700m wide basalt lip before taking a headlong 100 metre plunge into the thunderous, frothy chasm of the gorge below. This is the world`s largest sheet of falling water.

Described by the Kololo tribe living in the area in the 1800s as -Mosi-oa-Tunya - the Smoke that Thunders and in more modern terms as -the greatest known curtain of falling water, Victoria Falls are a spectacular sight of awe-inspiring beauty and grandeur on the Zambezi River, bordering Zambia and Zimbabwe.

One special vantage point is across the Knife edge bridge, where visitors can have the finest view of the Eastern Cataract and the Main Falls as well as the Boiling Pot where the river turns and heads down the Batoka Gorge. Other vantage points include the Falls Bridge and the Lookout Tree which commands a panoramic view across the Main Falls

Mosi O Tunya National Park is situated along the upper Zambezi stretching from and including the Falls for about 12kms up river. It is only 66 square kilometers but provides a home for numerous antelope species, zebra, giraffe and the recently acquired white rhinos, one of whom gave birth in the park in 1994. These are the only rhinos to be seen in Zambia as its previously large population has been completely eliminated through poaching. One can take a pleasant drive around the park in a couple of hours and almost all the species there should be seen at close range. Since there are no predators, they are very relaxed and afford some excellent photo opportunities.

Not far from the Okavango Delta, Chobe National Park is probably Botswana next most well known national Park. It is a diverse area, from the border at the Chobe River, to the now dry Savute Channel, and beyond to the borders of the Moremi Game Reserve / Okavango Delta. The Park is best known for its concentrations of elephant – some 120 000 individuals, along with good numbers of buffalo, antelope and predators. Birding is also excellent, with many migrants visiting from November to March.

Although there is much to see in the Chobe National Park, it is usually combined with Victoria Falls and the Okavango Delta. We will Tailor-make your arrangements, and our consultants will offer suggestions to fit your interest and budget.

Today, Victoria Falls remains as evocative a destination as it did to the hunters, surveyors, explorers and missionaries of the 19th Century.

Today, the wanderlust is the same, the pursuits are slightly different, it serves as a primary safari gateway to Southern Africa, offers gentle safari activities above the Falls including game viewing, bird watching and fishing and adrenalin filled activities below.
