NDARAKWAI CONSERVATION AREA – WEST KILIMANJARO

Day 1: Arrive Arusha and transferred  to West Kilimanjaro. Arusha –West Kili 2 ½ hours. (1 hour paved, ½ hour rough paved, 1 hour dirt track bad in places) past patchwork small pretty peasant farms, market towns and small villages, .  Short exploratory walk p.m. as day cools. Overnight Ndarakwai Camp.

 

KILIMANJARO SHIRA PLATEAU 4560MT

Day 2: Depart to Londolosi Gate and drive to Shira plateau for Kilimanjaro peak  close view, hike to Shira plateau with picnic lunch later in the afternoon drive to the camp Overnight Ndarakwai Camp.

 

Day 3: Depart uphill through rolling hills to Olmolog cave Campsite. Walk takes 3-4 hours at leisurely pace gradually gaining altitude. Pass through Acacia woodland, cross gulleys before coming to more open country.

 

Follow Maasai path connects Sinya area with Olmolog village before cutting off to Embarbal Nasoor a natural hollow that fills with water in rains. Picnic sitting on basalt boulders.  Camp reached on hillside not far from Maasai bomas. (About 1 km away). After a nap in the afternoon visit the nearby cave and cave paintings, which date from fairly recent times to perhaps three hundred years ago. The spot is culturally significant and to this day is used for the Maasai Orpul (or meat eating) ceremony.   Overnight Ngurudoto Mountain Lodge

 

DAY 4 –  TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK 

Game drive in Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is the third biggest National park in Tanzania. An unusually large population of elephants inhabits this sanctuary. Majestic baobab trees are an interesting feature of the park, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. During the dry season from July to November, many animals concentrate along Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. The area supports a great diversity of wildlife, including giraffe, buffalo, lesser kudu, eland, Oryx and zebra. Lion, leopard and cheetah are also present. Up to 6.000 elephants inhabit Tarangire in the dry season.   Dinner and overnight; Tarangire Wild palm campsite.

 

DAY 5-6 – TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK – LAKE NATRON AREA

Sunrise game drives at Tarangire national park which will start at (06:30am till 0830am) stop for b/fast. Depart for Lake Natron on the Great Rift Valley. Arrive in the afternoon.

Tour of Lake Natron on foot, (Lake Natron is one of the major flamingo breeding areas).

 Evening free at the camp or visit to the nearby waterfalls for a swim in the river.  D/overnight at Kamakia campsite.

 

DAY 6  – NATRON – WASSO VILLAGE – SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK (lobo area)

Early b/fast, drive to Serengeti national park via wasso village (Loliondo) You’ll have game drive enroute towards Lobo area (the Northern part of Serengeti).   Serengeti is likely the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world. These seemingly unending plains contain, during the months of the migration huge numbers of wildebeest and zebra with estimates of up to 1.5 million. Another interesting feature in Serengeti are the "Kopjes", massive islands of granite standing in a sea of grass, which provide shelter to a great variety of plants and animals, from the elusive leopard to the tiny dik dik.  D/overnight; Lobo campsite.

 

DAY 7 – SERENGETI (Lobo area) – SERENGETI (Seronera area)

Sunrise game drives followed by breakfast.  Depart for Seronera river valley area, the centre of Serengeti for more game drives till evening. Driving from Lobo to Seronera is about 80kms. D/overnight; Seronera campsite.

 

DAY 8 – SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK –NGORONGORO CRATER

Morning game drives, then drive to Ngorongoro crater with packed lunch.  You;ll have game drives enroute towards Ngorongoro. A stop at Olduvai Gorge, the famous archaeological site where the Leakey’s discovered remains of Australopithecus, Homo Habilis and Homo Erectus, bringing crucial understanding to the study of the evolution of the human species. 

D/overnight; Simba campsite, on the rim of the crater.

 

DAY 9 – NGORONGORO CRATER TOUR

Descend into the crate as early as possible for game drive in the crater till lunch time. (Picnic lunch near the hippo pool)  The crater is home for the endangered black Rhinoceros. So termed the garden of Eden’

you’ll see many other animals too.  D/overnight;  Ngorongoro wildlife lodge or Rhino lodge

 

DAY 10 – walking BULATI MAASAI VILLAGE (Olmoth crater)

Drive to Naiyobi Maasai village near Olmoth crater where you’ll drop off from the safari vehicle.  Here you’ll  meet your guide here (Maasai guide)then go on a beautiful hike across the magnificent Embulbul depression.  Along the trail, you will be able to see some wildlife mostly zebra and antelopes grazing in between the Maasai cattle. No lions though.  The hike is non strenuous and takes about 7hours to cross the depression.  Evening free at the camp. D/overnight; Bulati campsite.

 

 

DAY 11 – EMPAKAAI CRAER – (WALKING)  – LAKE MANYARA

Early morning, drive to the rim of the Empakaai crater.  Hike down to the crater floor.  The Empakaai crater is one of the most beautiful places on the crater highlands, part of the crater floor is covered by a

jewel like lake.  Walk along the lakeshore teeming with thousands of pink  flamingos.  The occasional hyena chasing flamingoes, distant buffaloes, the wild sounds will make your spirit join with the body. The huge rift valley below and the nearby towering Mt. Ol Doinyo L’engai form a fantabulous contrast to time you.  Afternoon climb back to the rim and drive to Eyasi village for overnight at Sunstar Resort

 

DAY 12 – LAKE MANYARA PARK – ARUSHA

Game drive in the famous lake Manyara national park.  The park is famous for the tree climbing lions and pythons, hope you`ll be lucky to see them.  Lunch is picnic in the park near the lake shores, later on depart for Arusha arriving at about 0500pm.  Dinner and overnight at SG resort.

Camping Safaris: We offer camping safari for travelers who would like to do adventures. The use dome tent and supply all camping equipments as far as cook to cook for you. we also supply fresh food from Town. On safari you will have sometimes have to stop and drop the cook who will set up the camp for evening.
